Life at Paradise
A small chemistry company where your work reaches a plant instead of a slide deck.
We are not going to tell you we are a family. We are an employer. What we can tell you is what the work is actually like, which is more useful when you are deciding whether to apply.
What working here is like
Your chemistry gets made
A route you develop in the lab will be running in a six thousand litre reactor within the year. That is unusually fast feedback, and it is unforgiving — scale-up finds every assumption you did not check.
Small teams, wide scope
You will not be the fourteenth person on a project. You will own a piece of it end to end, which means more responsibility earlier than a large organisation would give you.
Safety is genuinely enforced
Stop-work authority is real. Nobody has ever been penalised here for halting an operation they thought was unsafe, and nobody will be.
Training that is not a formality
Qualification against the specific processes you run, with reassessment. Support for external training in process safety, regulatory affairs and analytical technique.
Short reporting lines
The people who decide things are in the building. If something is broken, you can raise it with someone who can fix it.
Honest about the trade-offs
Plant work involves shifts. Campaign schedules get tight. We would rather you knew that before you joined than after.
Who tends to do well here
Across chemistry, engineering, quality and operations, the people who thrive share a few traits:
- They write things down, because a result nobody recorded did not happen.
- They report the batch that failed as promptly as the one that worked.
- They are comfortable saying "I do not know yet" instead of guessing at a number.
- They read the deviation reports from other people's products.
